Comfort Will Cost You
Sometimes, our comfort zones become the very things holding us back from God’s purpose. Gideon was hiding in fear when God called him to lead Israel. He didn’t feel brave or capable—he felt small. But God didn’t speak to Gideon’s fear; He spoke to who he was. “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” —Judges 6:12.
Like Gideon, we often cling to what feels safe, but God calls us to step out in faith, trusting Him to provide the strength we lack. Breaking free from our comfort zones starts with obedience. Gideon’s first act wasn’t leading an army—it was tearing down the idols in his family’s backyard. God often begins His work in the small, hidden places of our lives, preparing us for something greater. Stepping out of our comfort zones doesn’t mean we won’t feel fear—it means choosing to trust God more than our feelings.
If you’ve been holding back, take courage. God doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called. He’s waiting for you to step out of what’s comfortable and into what’s possible through Him. Your comfort zone might feel safe, but God’s purpose is where true freedom begins.
“Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” —Joshua 1:9
